Hi my husbands family is from Clay County. Do you have any DEALs or
ELLIOTTs on your list?
Rose Deal, formally of Vigo, now in Fl.
Doris,
I have ancestors from there. Could you check for the surnames of Bolton or
Marriott or Bateson? I would really appreciate it.
Thanks for your time.
Susan

Lori--
I am not familiar with the cemetary but was wondering about the name. I have
a Mary Saunders/Sanders that married Harvey Brock in Vigo County, IN in 1834.
She was from Virginia. I know nothing about the Sanders branch of the family.
Believe Harvey remarried in1839 therefore she may have died shortly before
that time. Let me know if you have any info on the name about that time.
Thanks.
Susie

Lewis Township: Friendly Grove Baptist Church is the oldest religious society

Elias Cooprider, etal. (No dates were given)
The Baptists generally did not keep genealogically-oriented records.
Hope this helps.

Can anyone tell me about Elias Cooprider? He performed the marriage ceremony
of William Phipps and Elizabeth Strome, Dec. 1863. The ceremony took place in
Bowling Green according to the certificate. Can anyone tell me the church he
pastored, time frame, or the denomination I can contact for more info?
Merry Christmas!

Hi. Do you have the book History of Clay Co.? If so, do you mind doing
any lookups? I'm trying to find more definite info on my
gg-grandfather, Andrew Jackson WEST who was married to Nancy GILBERT
(daughter of Jedediah and Mary Lindsey GILBERT). Andrew was born,
probably in Clermont Co. OH in 1829, and came to Clay Co. IN around
1836/7 with his parents, Thomas and Margaret WEST. This is NOT the same
Thomas WEST who was m. to Rachel Hickson. They, too, came from Clermont
Co. OH and settled in Clay Co. IN around the very same time as Thomas
and Margaret WEST. It was always believed that Thomas and RACHEL West
were Andrew Jackson WEST's parents until this past year, when we learned
his parents were Thomas and MARGARET WEST.
If this is too much trouble, I apologize for asking. If not, I truly
appreciate anything this book might add to help in our search.
Many thanks.
