Yes, it is possible that the person giving permission for the marriage would
be a parent, but be careful, it could also be a brother of the bride or
groom, an uncle,mother, or guardian etc. I found a note, only about with about
ten words giving permission for a dau. to marr in 1847. Dig ... and good luck.

I've ordered quite a few marriage licenses from Clark County and none of
them had any family information before 1900. I've even had a few dated
1900
without any family info.
