Sorry to reply to the whole list, but I tried messaging you directly, Mary, and got an

Hi Mary,
I checked our obituary index for Charles W. Riche and didn't have any luck. However,
when I did a search using the New Albany - Floyd County Public Library's online
newspaper index (
http://www.nafclibrary.org/newspaper-index/) I found a listing for an
obituary for him in the New Albany Daily Ledger on April 9, 1900: page 4, column 2.
Unfortunately since that's a New Albany newspaper we don't have it at the
Jeffersonville library so you're going to need to contact the Indiana Room in New
Albany (
http://www.nafclibrary.org/contact-the-indiana-room/). They should be able to
help get you a copy of that obituary.
I hope that helps!
Allison

Allison:
Could you look for an obituary of some sort for Charles W Riche who died April 9, 1900.
He is listed twice on page 294 of the Mortuary Record. One place lists his birth as
Indiana and the other "City" one gives residence as Floyd County, Ind the other
lists New Albany. Both give St Louis as burial (assume St Louis cemetery in Louisville)
as that is where he is buried, but one says the burial was on the 10th and the other says
11th. Family story is he came home from a business trip with pneumonia and died three
days later. But they were suppose to be living in Louisville. Most of the entries in the
Mortuary Record list an address under residence so it seems the person filling out the
report knew very little about him.

I would also love to see more activity on this list. I'm the new Genealogy and Local
History Librarian at the Jeffersonville Township Public Library and I'm happy to be of
help to anyone doing Jeff or Clark County research.
