I was an active participant on this list several years ago and then
got busy with other things in my life and put the Indiana Family
History Research aside until just recently when I cycled back around
to it. Now I want to try to fill in the gaps in my previous research
and additional information.
My main family line in Clark County is the Kelly/Kelley family who
lived primarily in Bethlehem Township from the early 1880s until into
1850s. Three brothers, William Kelly (1773-1837), Samuel Kelly
(1777-1806) and John Kelly (1785-1839) came across from Kentucky
(Fayette/Woodford Counties area) and settled on the east side of Camp
Creek in 1805. Also three of their sisters and their husbands
settled in the general area - Margaret Kelly ( ?-1825-26) and
husband, James Robb ( ?-1814) who lived in Jefferson County as early
as 1808, Eleanor/Elinor Kelly (1782-1863) and her husband, Patrick
Welch/Welsh (1777-1853), who were living in Clark County at least by
1810 and Sarah Kelly (179? -1823-25) and her husband, John Denny
(1789-1862), who were married in Clark County in 1811.
Around 1816, their cousin, Anthony Kelly (1784-1844) and his family
also moved up from Kentucky and also settled in the Camp Creek area.
In the late 1830s he and many of his adult children moved further
north to Johnson County, IN.
If anyone on this list is researching of there families I would like
to share information.
Thank you for any assistance.

I am like you, one day working on this line and then the other. So
the Kelley family in Clark Co., IN. is one of those lines. My, John
Allstott, was living with his cousin, ---- Kelley, in the 1870s (I
think that was the year, with out going and looking it up.) This was
in Lawrence Co., MO. Years ago in helping with a Allstott/Altstott
book, one of the helpers was from the Kelley line. So this is just a
little saying HI., note and if you have any info about the Kelley -
Allstott line, I would enjoy hearing from you and I will look up what
may help you in my Kelley - Allstott records.

Searching for a MILLS/MILES family who would have been in Shelby Co, KY in
the early 1800's then removed to Clark Co IN by 1820, likely the
Charlestown area. My hunch is that I should be looking for a John Mills or Miles, b.
ca. 1780-possibly Jr.
I know of only two siblings, both born in Shelby Co, KY: my
g.g.grandmother, Elizabeth Ann Mills b. 1815, m. BOTTORFF; and her brother, Amazon
(Amzi) b. 1817, m. WROE.
It is possible that a mother, step-mother or aunt of these siblings
(Elizabeth & Amzi) is an lady by the name of Abigail b. ca. 1782, as she was
listed with the Bottorff family in Scott Co, IN on the 1850 census as well as
a 4 yr old child, Louisa HALL or HEALE. I can't identify either Abigail or
Louisa.
If any of this is familiar to anyone, I would love to hear from you. Any
clues are welcome. Thanks.
Merri

Merri,
I have no information about the Mills or Miles family in Clark Co, IN
but I did find a reference to a James R. Bottorff listed in Clark
County Deaths, 1886 Veterans Enumeration published in the Hoosier
Genealogist, vol 39 # 2, June 1999. I was looking at the listing to
see if any Boyers were included and his name is just a little above
where they would have been listed. He apparently died 15 Jan 1881 in
Oregon.
Best of luck is unraveling your mystery about Abigail and Lousie.

Thanks, Mary. My Bottorff was Andrew J??.I guess I should have mentioned
that as Clark is loaded with Bottorffs. I appreciate your reply.
