Hi Lois and Clark County Researchers,
I have taken Lois advice she has given a while back and called the Clark County
Health Dept. and did received the information I was looking for. The fee for
the death records was $5.00 each. Thank you so very much, it was an early
Christmas gift to me..Sincerely, Lorraine

First, I just learned about this INCLARK group and was reviewing the
archives.
Lorraine Strohkirch <yuletide(a)bellsouth.net> posted a message to this group
on 11/6/99 asking about obtaining death records.
There is a chance I am mistaken, but to my knowledge you do NOT have to know
a person's death date in order to get death records from the Clark Co.
Health Department.
Clark County Health Dept.
1216 Akers Avenue
Jeffersonville, IN 47130

The Health Dept. has birth and death records only from 1882.
Marriage records after 1807 are available from:
Clark Circuit Court Clerk
City County Bldg - Rm 137
Jeffersonville, IN 47130

Bear in mind, however, that there is a risk that you will be told that
pre-1937 records cannot be found as they were "lost in the flood".
Sometimes this is true and sometimes it is easier for folks to say that than
to actually look for obscure records. Many records DID survive the 1937
Flood, so it is worthwhile to try to find them than rather than assume they
are lost.
The Health Department will advise you by PHONE whether or not they have a
specific record and will tell you what information the record contains.
They do charge for written records, but I do not recall the fees.
Hope this helps.
Lois
