I am looking for information on the Fox family who lived in Clark County.
Peter Fox and his wife Elizabeth arrived there from Prussia in 1850 with
their children: Jacob b.1843 and Peter II b. 1846; they had 3 additional
children who were born in Clark County: Joseph b. 1850, Catherine b. 1852
and Angeline b. 1859. Elizabeth died sometime between 1854 and 1860; Peter
died between 1880 and 1900. I believe that Peter was a farmer in Clark Co.
most of his life.
Of their children:
Jacob married Mary b. 1855 and they had a daughter Josephine b. 1879
Peter II married twice (1) Elizabeth b. 1849 (2) Augusta b. 1862. Peter had
5 children all born in Clark County: Peter III b. 1877, John b. 1884, Adam
b. 1888, George b. 1891. Peter II died between 1900 and 1920.
Of his children:
John married Emma b. 1884 and they had at least 2 daughters: Catherine b.
1913 and Laurie b. 1915. John was still alive in 1921 and had relocated to
Floyd County.
George married Bertha Stoepher b.1899 and had at least 1 daughter Mary b.
1918. George was also in Floyd County by 1920.
Adam left home at age 16, ended up in Illinois, married Anna Thoms around
1914 had 3 daughters: Helen b.1916, Mildred b. 1915 and Shirley b. 1920.
Adam, Anna, Helen and Mildred were all killed in an auto/train collision in
1921 in Seymour, IN while traveling to visit his family. (Shirley was my Mother)
While some of this family ended up in Floyd County, I think some remained in
Clark Co. and descendants may still remain there. I have found various
members on the census forms in Clark County in both Carr and Wood townships.
Any information would be most appreciated.
