Do you know anyone who has the names of prisoners in the prisons in
Illinois? My
gggrandfather Francis K Edlen (Edelen/Edlin/Edelin) was a prisoner in
Illinois
after his capture in June 1864. He died on the way home after release
following
the war. I have been unable to find his name on any of the lists of
Confederate
Soldiers. However, I know he was and that he was captured as I have a
letter he
wrote to his wife immediately after his capture detailing what how it
happened.
At that time he was still in a camp at Sulphur Springs, KY. If I can find a
prison record, perhaps I will be able to learn what unit he was in.
