I, today, have received the marriage application from Clark County for
my great aunt Alice WAUGHTEL & George COOPER. This states they each
resided in Speed, Indiana. I found this to be just north of
Sellersburg, according to my handy Atlas. In this time frame of 1914
what was this little town like? What was there? Since my great aunt
was born and raised in Scipio, Jennings County, Indiana, well I was a
wee bit curious as to why she was residing "that far away" from home?
In 1914 she would have been 20 years of age. It does state her
occupation as "domestic". Is there any possible known information on
this couple at that time frame? In 1919 they were in Wayne County,
Indiana as a daughter was born there for which I have sent for the birth
record. Thank you for any help that anyone can give me.
