Lois:
I would agree; the census record on Ancestry seems incomplete. I ran names
throught he search mechanism of relatives I'm certain lived in Clark County
in 1880. Nothing came up. Not sure why.

Melanie:
I'm not CERTAIN, but it seems to me after perusing the database on
Ancestry.com that it may be incomplete. I couldn't find anything on
individuals I know were living in Jeffersonville Twp. (the most populated
twp.
in the county) in Clark Co. in 1890. Tried a number of different
names.
Perhaps that is why you are having a problem.
Granted, a lot of the entries leave the Twp. blank, which could explain
this.
But I was also searching for their surnames and came up empty.
If you enter "Charlestown", for instance, 3110 entries are found. But I
came
up with zip when searching on Monroe, Owen, Silver Creek, Union and
Utica.
My suggestion to you is to minimize your search to a specific surname only
(no
first names). Also, be sure to try all the various possible
spellings and
MISspellings.
