Hi Everyone,
Concerning the 1880 Clark Co,IN online census.
Only Bethlehem, Carr, Oregon, Charlestown townships are included. They said
it was the first part of several installments. I say they did the townships
on the microfilm that came first. At least I beleive they are in that order
if not then the smaller townships.
Like all the database they will update this database periodically untill
the whole census is included hopefully. They may after one of the updates
make it free again. At $60.00 a year, I find many useful databases, which
works out to $5.00 a month well worth my money. I can spend a whole lot
more just with stamps, envelopes and dollar donations for minimum research
efforts. Some of you think it might be bait and switch but the database is
free, with no strings, and you need not join. It's not false advertising
or limited supply, because they state upfront that it is the first part of
several installments. My favorite database is the Courier Journal and Times
Obituary index 1990-1999. I have gotten hundreds of obituaries from it well
worth several years at $60.00 a year.
I'll be glad to check for your surnames in that CJT index just send me your
names in a private email. They must have died between 1990-1999 in the
lOuisville,Southern,IN area.
For those doing a lot of INDIANA research, however I would recommend
<
www.genealogylibrary.com> they have included almost all the WPA indexes
for Birth/death/and marriages for many counties of IN. It too is a meager
compared to obtaining the information elsewhere, and you can search for
names that are not in the normal index in the WPA such as the mother's
maiden and very nice feature.
For those not familiar with Genealogy Library, it is part of
FamilyTreeMaker on-line site. It is a pay/subscription service; has over
1900 books, census info, etc.
Please no negative replies to the list, send them to me, I'll answer them
as I can, and maybe agree with you, I too am open minded and would accept
information that might change my opinion. Or I may just agree to disagree-
the politician's way!
