Ok....I am so confused at this point, I'm desperately hoping someone on the list
"may" know what it is I'm missing.
My ggrandfather's sister Minnie Demuth, who was from Dubois Co., IN, but was living in
Jefferson Co., KY, married a man by the name of August KOHLER, in Clark Co. Sellersburg,
IN, Nov 1890. My first assumption was that it was a Catholic church in Sellersburg, that
didn't pan out, after making several phone calls. I had a man tell me today, from a
Church of Christ, that there used to be a church called The Old German Church. It is no
longer there and moved. So, I decided to go to the LDS (
familysearch.org) website to see
if there were records listed. I believe I actually found the family of August KOEHLER,
living in Floyd Co. Someone has submitted this info, but on the christenings and some of
the deaths, they've listed German Reformed Church, Sellersburg, Clark Co., IN. I have
found this family in FLOYD Co., so did they just make the trip to this church (that I
can't find) or were the county lines different? I will call the Sellerburg library, I
guess, to see if the !
records for this church still exist? Is that what would be recommended? The oddity of
this, is in every census, Minnie Demuth is listed with her maiden name and is always
listed as single? Something, obviously happened? The person who had the Koehler info
online states that August Koehler died Aug 8, 1911, but with no burial location.
Thanks so much to everybody thats been so helpful thus far!!! I DO appreciate it!
Debbie
