Hi Angel,
The courthouse is one of the better ones to deal with. In fact, while in
the recorders office today, I overheard a gentleman complimenting the staff
on their good service compared to some of the other Indiana counties he has
dealt with. The board of health was very helpful the last time that I
visited them. There is a table and they will bring the books for you to
look at there. They don't cover the other entries on the page while you
are looking like in some counties.
The museum is open Tues. - Sat. at 1:00 - 5:00 p.m. They have a research
room with some unique items. The Logansport-Cass Co Public Library has a
genealogy dept. Everything is locked and it is not staffed. While they
have a decent collect, it is not organized, making it difficult to find
things. You might actually have more luck at the Kokomo-Howard Co Public
Library. The Genealogy Dept is staffed and there is a good collection of
Cass Co. books. The KHCPL has early Cass newspapers on microfilm, but for
the late 1800s to present newspapers you will want to go to the
Logansport-Cass Co Public Library.
Have fun on your research trip!

Hi Group;
Just joined last night... Debby has been a great help in the past.
My mom (who has recently been infected by the genealogy bug) and I are
planning a trip to Cass County this coming Friday. Her family (TURLEY) is
from the Young America area, and I have researched them in Cass, Howard,
Carroll, White, Greene, Tippecanoe Cos in IN, a couple of areas in KY, a
small part of NC, back to the 1700s in Fairfax Virginia, where we just moved
from.
Can anyone advise me as to the best places to visit in a day trip. Am
looking for elusive vital records on TURLEY, CRIPE, JOHNSON, and MENDENHALL
family members. I know several are buried in Young America (thanks to
Debby) and also over in Flora in Carroll Co.
I thought we would try the county court-house. Can a person just walk-in
and request records, or do you have to fill out forms and request them to be
mailed?
I also thought we would try the library in Logansport. Is there a genealogy
society or historical society available with info?
Thanks in advance for the help.
