Thanks! I live in Cleveland, Ohio so I'm planning a trip w/
my
sister there in the fall. The only grave photo I have is of my great
uncle Lansing Gallagan's grave. I'm going to scan it & send it later
tonnight.
Now for the info:
Hannah Brown Gallagan (from New York) married Thomas
Gallagan (an Irish immigrant) in Lake county, Ill. on 2/17/1859. They had
one son I know of for sure: Seth Thomas (who is buried there in Mt. Hope
w/ his wife Clara). The Gallagan name has been spelled Gallagher,
Galligan, Galigan, & Gallaghan. The correct spelling should be
Gallagan.Hannah is listed in the census records of 1900 as living in the
state hospital in Logansport. This would make sense. The family tale was
that she refused to live with her son Seth because he left the Catholic
church & with no where else to go (& no money) she ended up there.
I also found a George Gallangher listed in the family plot
@ Mt. Hope. Again, a gross mispelling of the name? And if related, would
be a twin to Seth?
Thanks again!
Teri
