I was thinking about this. Mt. Meta, a big Cemetery down the road about 2
miles from me all faces South. And, the San Benito City Cemetery, 1/2 miles
from me all faces North. Both are facing the road so I bet this has
something to do with which way they face, too. I like the EAST best! Sallie

Debby, this is the first time I've heard this. Is this
why you sometimes see footstones in front of the
headstone and sometimes behind the headstone? I have

It is Christian tradition to bury with the grave
facing east, so that when
Christ returns the dead with arise facing him.
However, you see them in
every direction. I would guess that the percentage is
quite a bit higher
for facing east, at least in this area of the country.
