You should see the cemeteries here in the Rio Grande Valley. Quite
interesting. Some have fences around and gates, lots of angels. At a
certain time everyone comes and cleans graves up and cover with flowers.
Very Pretty.
There is a very modern cemetery-Mt Meta down the road from me. I
understand the new section is for tiered graves. First dead on the
bottom, next one on top. That's how they bury in Mexico, casket on
ground, then a kind of wooden ledge all around with another casket, etc.
resting on it. Some parts, I haven't seen it here around San Benito, but
they decorate the cemetery fences with pretty ribbons and bows. These are
Mexican traditions. I have read about them in the newspaper but not
recently.
As you can tell I like cemeteries. My aunt and uncle lived across from
Mt. Hope in Logansport IN. I lived with them during summer and all
holidays. We walked and looked, drove through it many many times but
NEVER played in it. My husband, daughter, and I visited every historical
cemetery we could during our camping vacations. Sallie
