Hi
I work on the State Hospital grounds and it is on SR 25S, not 24. There
is a sign for the cemetary on the highway, but it is actually located on
Cliff Drive, which runs behind the hospital. You would have to follow
the main road through the grounds (it winds and turns, but keep going
straight on it) until you get to the road that it ends at. Turn left
and follow the road past two more gates, a small one and then a larger
one. The cemetary is on the left, with a rock fence around it and a
couple of small gates.
There is a large marker in the back of the cemetary where the original
owners of the land, the Youngs, were moved to when the DOC took over the
buildings they were buried beside. Most of the graves are either
unmarked or numbered. If you contact the state hospital, they will
direct you to the person who can find the information about whoever you
are looking for. I had a great-aunt who died there and I had to sign a
confidentiality statement when I was looking for information about her.
They are very helpful, though.
