Rebecca,
I think my great grandfather was committed to this hospital and possibly one
of his sons. Their names were Joseph CROWEL and Otis CROWEL. I hate to
have you drive all the way there and not be able to find them. I am not
entirely certain they are buried there. It was just a family rumor so far.
I have had a terrible time trying to locate any information on my great
grandfather Joseph CROWEL other that his marriage to Myrtle Hisey in Fulton
County. It has been said that Myrtle died giving birth to what would have
been their youngest son in 1914. Supposedly, Joseph haad a nervous
breakdown sometime after her death and had to be committed. That is all we
know of Joseph. Thanks for your help though. I will keep you posted.
Tammy

There are two cemeteries located on the State Hospital Grounds. The one
is called
St. Johns and the other one is just a small one. I have been told
that most of the stones (on the older cemetery ) were pushed over the edge
of the Wabash River. Because the state didn't want anyone to know who the
patients were (privacy reasons I guess) However there are still a few of
the older stones standing. If you let me know names and dates I would be
willing to go out there and look for you.
Another place you might check with would be the Historical Society, as I
have been
told that they have boxes of the state hospital records in their
basement.

Hello, I am new to this list and need help. Does anyone know how I can get
information on a patient that was in Logansport State Hospital? I have been
told that one or two of my CROWEL family members were committed to that
institution before they died and could possibly be in the cemetery there.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You,
Tammy
