SOME Indiana counties started keeping marriage application books in the
1890s. I don't know if it was a state mandated thing or just something
they started doing.
For those not familiar with these ledgers, they include wonderful data
for anyone researching their ancestors. Each couple was asked particular
questions, including some/all of the following:
Full Name of Groom
Place of Residence
Occupation
Age next Birthday
Race/color
Place of Birth
Nationality
FAther's name
Mother's maiden name
Number of marriage - i.e. 1st, 2nd, etc
Same questions ask of Bride
Where and When married
Witnesses
By whom certified - their name & office
Above is information asked of Elkhart Co [IN] couples; I don't know if
other counties ask all the above questions.

I have gotten Cass County marriage records from the microfilms from
the LDS
Family History Center. In looking over my copies I only find one
that shows
the parents names -- my great uncle and his wife who were married in
1907.
This is not their marriage license but the actual application from
the book.
I am thinking the application books probably show the parents. You
would
have to really search the microfilms though. I have seen later
licenses
which named the parents -- 1920s and up.
