James Platt Funeral to be Held Saturday
Will be conducted at home two miles east of Young
America
The funeral of James Platt, well known farmer living
two miles east of Young America, will take place at
the home at 1 oclock Saturday afternoon. Mr. Platt,
who was 64 years of age, was stricken with double
pneumonia two weeks ago and due to his advanced age,
was unable to withstand the attack.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Fay Barber, who
lives one mile south of Young America, and Mrs. Edith
Thomas of Galveston; and two sons, Charles Platt, who
lives with his parents and runs the farm, and Harry
Platt, proprietor of the Frances hotel barber shop
here. Two brothers also survive, William Platt, one
mile south of Young America, and Marvin Platt, who
left Indiana for Florida just a day or so previous to
his brothers death; and one sister, Mrs. Sarah Lemon
of Lafayette.
The deceased was well known in the Young America
neighborhood as a hard working farmer and an
accommodating neighbor. When he took charge of a new
farm, it was never long until a decided change was
noticeable in its appearance, as he prided himself in
the neatness and up-to-date appearance of his
buildings and fields, one of his old friends said yesterday.
