Sallie,
Did you ever see it yourself?

Debby,
I don't know what is back in the woods now.
The Salem Methodist Church of Cass County is the
oldest church in Deer Creek
Twp according to Indiana historians. The log church
was build about a miles
southeast of the corner of now 900S400E. A burial
ground was started and
remained. It is in the woods on Nick Robinson's
farm.
The article I have continues until 1959. I guess
parts of the cem. was still
visible then.
In Powell's 1913 Book it states under Churches pg 3
where the log church was
built 1851or 1852 in the center of Section 10 on
land donated by George
Campbell. A burial ground was started. Ada M Dale,
wife of Samuel was buried
7 Dec 1851. The log church was abandoned and torn
down about 1875 with the
land going back into farm land as per the deed.
Services were held in the
Babb School House, NW corner of Sec 11 until a new
frame building was built
in 1876 a mile NW of the old log church SW corner of
Sec 4. In 1910 the new
modern brick building came into being.
Hope this helps. Sallie
