I'm sorry about the conditions in Logansport. I have family there and they are
"in" on getting the recds more accessible to reseaarchers. But they have to same
problems that you were having. One maybe two books at a time. They make you feel like an
unrully child.
Even when I was with a local researcher. So the problem wasn't with you, they treat
everybody like that. You did everything right. Nancy

Subject : RE: [INCASS] Cass Co. Records
Hi Listers,
I guess it's finally my time to state my mind about assistance with Cass Co.
records.
A few years ago I traveled from No. California to Logansport after years of
struggling with genealogical requests from Cass Co. I sent funds, donations,
and nice letters. I made telephone calls and still struggled. I hired
someone to help me and her letters were full of grumbles and complaints of
these same problems.
Well, when I visited in person I witnessed the difficulty folks go through
first hand. It was horrible!
I have volunteered at my local genealogical library for years. We allow
most of our material to be freely researched, handled, and read by members
and visiting researchers. Our only lock is on the front and back door. We
have a special collections room with very fragile rare maps and books that
we do not allow to be removed from the library but are still fully
accessible to researchers.
I truly enjoyed my visit to the town of many of my ancestors. Everywhere
else in Logansport I visited the folks were pleasant, friendly, and
helpful.
What is sad, is evidence to solve my 5 year genealogy brick wall is probably
in that locked cabinet.
