Reunion of Class of '65 -'66.
The annual reunion of the old school class of '65- '66, taught by G. W. Gates,
was held at the residence of Dr. Loop and wife, Wednesday. An elaborate dinner was served
at the noon hour. An address was given by G.W. Gates, responded to by Mrs. Jennie Shaffer
of Logansport. Those present to enjoy the occasion and talk over by-gone days were Wils
Berry and wife, Mrs. Jennie Shaffer, Mrs. M.B. Morris, Mrs. Delia Chappelow, Mrs. Reed
Shewmon of Logansport; Mrs. Carrie Griffith of Kokomo, G.W. Gates and wife, F.H. Thomas
and wife, Wm. Wampler and wife, Mrs. C.F. Thomsa and Dr. Loop and wife. The absentees
were Anna Kirkpatrick Downy, Greely Kirpatrick, and Dr. E.(O). Thomas, James Marshall,
Sali(na) Marshall, Bell McDonnell, Victoria and Azel Bell, A.J. and Ella Emerick, David
and Eva Emerick, J.A. and Ida Rodibaugh, W.W. Conner, Sallie Daggett, Mrs. Mary Conner
Sullivan, D.W. Thomas. The following classmates were invited to be present at the next
meeting, D.W. Thomas, Portland, Oregon; Laura Demoss, Pomona, Cal; M.J. Adams, Hamilton,
Ohio; Mrs. Manerva Bitler, Galveston; Mrs. Emma Hoovey, Hutchison, Kan; Ellis Speece,
French Lick, Ind.; John and Dan Kelly. After the dinner the meeting was called to order
by Pres. Dr. Loop and minutes of the previous gathering read and on motion of Mrs. Jennie
Shaffer were approved. On motion of Mrs. Shaffer the Old Girls Fifteen Club, who were
schoolmates of Gates Class were invited to become members. Letters of regret were read
from Anna Kirkpatrick Downy, Joplin, Mo.; Greely Kirpatrick, Kansas; Kate Strock
Doolittle, Sioux Falls, S.D; Mrs. Emma Fox Jones, Michigan; John Fox, Michigan. In a
previous letter to the secretary Mrs. Molly Bitler Klinger(?) of Devil's Lake, N.C.,
expressed a longing desire to be present but was unable to attend. Mr. Gates, the old
tutor, is now 79 years old. After an interesting, social time by those present, the
meeting adjourned to meet the second Thursday in September, 1911, with Mrs. Wils Berry on
Biddle's Island, their new home, Logansport, Ind.
