I've put together a webpage <
http://www.netusa1.net/~beheler/INrsrch.html>
about researching in Indiana which covers availability of vital records in
Indiana Counties. Most counties started birth and death records in 1882
with some larger municipal areas starting about 1875. The problem is that
many doctors, midwives and undertakers didn't bother with registering these
events, esp. if they were away from the county seat and it was the dead of
winter.
Cass County was real primitive in 1832, although there was a newspaper
"the Cass County Times". I found that at:
http://www.statelib.lib.in.us/WWW/INDIANA/NEWSPAPER/CASS.HTML
Newspapers on microfilm may be interlibrary loaned through your local
public library. That having been said, I would be very surprised if you
found a birth announcement. Most of the content will not be local.
Depending on when he died, an obituary might be one of your best bets. If
there is a death record and the informant had the information that would be
good, too. Church records and family Bible records are fairly reliable
when you can locate them and would be considered a primary source if
recorded at the time of the event.
Good Luck!

Dick,
I don't know if there is a source, but you could check a obit or a death
certificate, or church records, could give you the information you are
looking
for.
