FHL at Salt Lake City has abstracts of Logansport newspapers from
1860's-1870's on microfilm . . . very helpful

Depending on WHERE you live, sometimes the desired
information may be available through LDS Family
History Library. (Someone on another list clued me on
to this research medium.) If you're not familiar with
this resource, you might want to "play around" with
this web site.
Go to the Family History Library Catalog
http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/FHLC/frameset_fhlc.asp
Click on "Place Search" (top box on right) and it
opens a window where you enter your desired location.
Follow the intructions given, i.e., for this search,
"Logansport" for the Place; "Indiana" to narrow the
search.
One finds the FHLC has several films which might
possible include the desired info. The films have to
be ordered from Salt Lake City and have to be viewed
at a local Family History library. This is a handy
resource for anyone that lives away from the locality
yet has convenient access to a Family History library.

Hi Again --
What old newspapers are available for events in the
greater Logansport area from 1850 (or thereabouts)
through 1900 (or thereabouts)?
I am interested in birth announcements, obituaries,
marriage announcements, and so on.
