Theresa Glasser Easterday, ninety-six years and nine months of age died yesterday at the
home of her daughter Mrs Frank Wall, 222 Colfax Street. Death resulted from infirmities
of old age.
Deceased was born in Oca, Germany, October 15, 1821. She was united in marriage to
Gottlieb Easterday December 26, 1848. In April of the next year the newly married couple
started for America. The was of 1848 had just ended but they were held in France until
July. They spent six weeks on the ocean voyage, which proved thrilling.
For six years they lived in New York and then moved West, locating in Chicago. From
that city they moved to Valparaiso, where they lived for thrity years.
Nine children were born to this union of whom four are still living: John Easterday of
Laporte, Elisabeth Hensell of Kingsbury, Indiana; Charles Easterday of Fort Wayne, and Mrs
Frank Wall of this city. Twenty-nine grandchildren and thirty-three great-grandchildren
also survive and seven great-great-grandchildren. The husband died in Valpariaso May 19,
1891.
The funeral services will be held this evening at 8:00 at the home of her daughter, Mrs
Wall, 222 E Colfax Street, conducted by Dr E Richard Edwards of the Ninth Street Christian
church. The funeral party will leave tomorrow morning at 6:00 via the Vandalia for
Valparaiso, where the burial will be made.
The funeral of Mrs. Catherine Hensley was held this afternoon from the residence of her
son, Guy Hensley on East High Street conducted by Rev Wit Lowther and B W Tyler.
Interment was made in Mt Hope cemetery.
The funeral of John S Lerch was held this afternoon from the Baptist church at
Adamsboro. Burial took place in the Dunkard cemetery.
The funeral of Horace G Smith will be held tomorrow morning at 11 oclock from the Metea
Baptist church. Interment in the adjacent cemetery.
The funeral of Michael Monahan will be held tomorrow morning from St Vincent de Paul
church, conducted by Rev Father Crosson. Interment will take place in St Vincent
cemetery.
Goldie Alice, the one-day-old daughter of Mr and Mrs. Charles Kouder died at 6 oclock
last night at the family residence, 615 Bates street. The funeral will be held Saturday
morning at 10 oclock from the residence, conducted by Rev Atkinson. The funeral will be
private. Interment will be made in Mt Hope cemetery.
The funeral of Mrs. George Carlson of Seattle, was. Daughter of Mr and Mrs W H Bear
will be heald from the Crooked Street Christian church Sunday afternoon at 3 oclock,
conducted by the pastor. Mrs Carlson is survived by her husband and four children, two
sons and tow daughters, also her father and mother and two sisters, the latter being Mrs
John Carney and Mrs Geo Coleman both of Royal Center, a brother also srviving R E Bear of
Logansport.
Mrs Harriett McCandless, widow of the late Robert McCandless died this morning about 9
oclock at St Josephs hospital of heart trouble. She was 77 years of age. She is
survived by one brother, E W Anderson of this city. Funeral arrangements will be announced
late.
