>Does anyone know if this Museum really exists? I have tried to
request
information thru them and get no response. Looking for a will from
1852, and
probated 1853. Seems everything goes thru this Museum, but no one
reponds to
messages. Frustrating.Gloria<<
yes, Gloria, it exists. Phyllis Moore is the curator, and she is now
operating by herself with some volunteers, as funding has been cut by
the county.
It is probably impossible for her to respond to all requests.
They have an excellent website with a lot of information on it
including wills:
http://www.carrollcountymuseum.org/index.html
Perhaps that's where you found the information about the 1952 will.
[If you have the person's name and will date, why not go directly to
the clerk's office? They can make a copy of the original will for you.
The Museum-Library has abstracts, but the legal papers are in the
clerk's office.
The museum-library has a wealth of information on Carroll county
families collected over many years, and will have to move to new
quarters, as yet undecided as to where that will be. I urge everyone
with a connection to this county to help support this effort if at all
possible.
