Larry. Not related, just trying to help. Found a family tree that identified his parents
as Absalom Parks and Lydia Wolfe, didn't have much else in it. In 1860 census for
Carroll county, Rock Center township, the family was headed by Absalom Parks, 29, a
wealthy farmer with real estate worth $15,000 and personal estate worth $2,372 born in
Ohio, and included L.A. (Lydia), 25, Ohio, - Charles D, 3, In, and Ella L, 1, Ind.
Something must have happened to Lydia because on 24 Sep 1867 Absalom married Kizzie
Hanawalt in Carroll county, source is book 6, page 19. In 1870 the family is still in
Rock Creek township, and is headed by Absalom Parkes, 39, a farmer with real estate worth
$27,000 and personal estate worth $8,000, born in Ohio, and included Kissie, 36, keeps
house, born in New Jersey,, - Charles, 13, - Ella, 10, - Douglas, 9, - Grace, 1, - and
Nancy, domestic servant, Ind. All children listed as at home and born in Ind. Something
happened to Absalom because Kesiah !
Parks married David Parks on 21 Jun 1874, in Carroll county, source is book 7, page 27.
In 1880 the family is in Rock Creek township, and is headed by David Parks, 47, farmer,
born in Ohio and both parents in Pa, and included his wife Kaziah, 45, keeps house, N.J.,
- his son Jesse, 14, - his son Alfred, 12, his daughter Alferetta, 12, - his daughter
(step daughter?) Grace, 11, his son John A, 8, - his son Beccher D, 4, and his step-son
Douglas, 18. All children born in Ind. In 1870 David was in Cass county with his wife
Margaret and the first 3 children listed in 1880. In 1880 Charles D Parks was listed as a
boarder in the home of Dr Powell. Hope this helps. Don
