Find-a-Grave site has a service where volunteers photograph headstones, but it's a
large cemetery so knowing the plot location will be a help for the photographers, if
anyone volunteers. You should be able to get the contact person from the Historical
society if there is no cemetery office phone number listed.

George Washington Brooks, 68, former school bus driver, died at 8:15 o'clock
Monday evening [15 Jan 1951]at the Robert long Hospital in Indianapolis, where he had been
a patient for the past five weeks. The son of Thomas and Geneva Brooks, he was born nov
18, 1882 in St. Claire, Tenn. On Dec 25, 1905 he married the former Bitha [sic] White.
They moved to Delphi 35 years ago. In addition to serving as school bus driver, he has
been engaged as a trucker and a farmer.
Surviving are the widow, a son, Dana Brooks of Delphi, four daughters, Lillian Brassher
and Connie Dosen of los Angeles, Cal, Minnie Ethel Keys of Detroit, Mich and Marybelle
Hill of Chicago; two brothers, William of Maryville, Tenn, and Ed of Knoxville, Tenn, and
a sister, Mrs. Lucy long, St. Claire, Tenn.
The body was removed to the Jackson funeral home where friends may call.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Jackson chapel, the Rev. o. d.
Williams, pastor of the Pilgrim holiness church, will officiate and burial will be in the
Masonic cemetery.

Dateline DELPHI:
Mrs. Bertha W. Brooks, 80, former resident here, died at 3:30 am Saturday at the
home of her daughter, Mrs. Ethel Keys in Detroit. She had been staying there the past
year.
A native of Tennessee, she was married to George Brooks, who died in January 1951.
She was a member of the Delphi Baptist Church.
Survivors are a son, Dana Brooks, Kokomo; two daughters, Mrs. Ethel Keys, Detroit;
Mrs. Thomas Godson, Los Angeles; six grandchildren and one brother, William White,
Kokomo.
Friends may call at the Jackson funeral home after four o'clock Sunday. The
Reverend J. Franklin Arthur will officiate at final rites, which will be at 1:30 p.m.
Monday. Burial will be in the Masonic Cemetery.
