>Rachel Stewart/Haslet/Miller was married (haven't found
marriage record yet) to my GG-grandfather Jacob Miller. Can see from 1870
Census
they had son Ira J Miller age 7 months- do you know what happened to
Ira-marriage,children,death, burial? Did Rachel and Jacob divorce? He was
alone in Owen, Clinton, IN with his son Joseph & family in 1880 census. Show Jacob d.
March 8, 1891 but can't find where he is buried-any idea as I don't see
Jacob or Ira J (just Rachel) at Ball Hill Cem..<<
This may help clarify matters on the RACHELs.
An obituary dated 23 Sep 1922 from the Hoosier Democrat, Flora, Indiana, for
?Dr. Reuben R. TIDRICK, b 1841, lists among his survivors a sister, RACHEL HASLET,
two years his senior, living near Ockley. They were children of Lawrence and Elizabeth
TIDRICK.
FYI: While it is true that many of the original marriage applications for the county were
not saved,
these marriages are recorded in the books upstairs in the clerk's office in Delphi.
It's always
best to go to the original record, and that's as close as you can get, as the books
were inscribed
at the time of the marriage.
