Hi Robin, I'm Jan Hall that Kris Brower mentioned. I have no obit for any SCHMITTER
names.
I began collecting obituaries last year from the Hoosier Democrat, the Flora Ind
newspaper, because they wrote long, detailed obituaries with great genealogical detail.?
they cover the period 1880's through the 1930's. I began just by doing the people
that connected to me by marriage or blood but then I just did everyone. Quite a job.
I live a long way? from Carroll county. I read the newspapers on microfilm from the
Indiana State Library, through Inter-Library Loan; they sent them to my public library.?
I used that paper because of the detailed obituaries.? When I have visited the Indiana
State Library I looked at some Delphi papers for the same time period and their obituaries
don't have the same detail, but that might be where your SCHMITTER deaths will be
found.? I doubt an 1883 obit will have much detail, but you never know.?
The Indiana State Library website has all the newspapers listed.? Your local librarian can
tell you how to order the film.
http://www.in.gov/library/
click on "Indiana Collections" and then on newspaper holdings.?? newspapers are
organized by county, click on Carroll and you'll see about a dozen Delphi papers.

Would like to discuss the John and Barbara Schmitter family of Delphi. From info
found on Ancestry, John died in 1883 and Barbara died in 1907. What newspaper
would likely have John's obituary if there was one? Is there a library that
would have newspapers of that era on microfilm?
Thanks for any help
Robin
