I was curious about recent message to the list mentioning folks who came to
Carroll Co from Butler Co, OH. I'm pretty sure that my Lenon/Lennon family
also came to Indiana from Butler Co, OH and was wondering if there were
several families who came together around same time, some kind of land
promoter in OH who was pushing Carroll Co, the completion of a railroad, or
some other factor that might have induced settlement from Ohio to Indiana
in the 1830s-50s. Can anyone recommend a good history of the area that I
could get on inter library loan?

Hello - I was wondering if anyone might have access to a platt map
and could
tell me where the following property was approx. located in the county:
E 1/2 SE Sec. 13 / Twp 23-N Range 1-W
My gggGrandmother, Massey (Staggs) SMITH of Butler co, OH, purchased this
land June 8, 1833. Her husband, Thomas Smith, purchased land in Tippacanoe
co. in 1829. I know they moved to Indiana eventually but can't locate them. A
son married in Grant co. in 1848.
Can anyone tell me, did they ever live on this land? Is it near the border of
Tippacanoe co? I would like to determine if the land she purchased in Carroll
co. might have been near the land Thomas bought in 1829 in Tippacanoe co.
(Sort of on the county line?)
Thanks,
