Hi Sue
sorry it has taken me so long to respond; i have been sick. What the coordinator does is
basically get the ball rolling with restoration. You set up the cemeteries that need work
done in them and then there are techniques and steps to restore the pioneer cemeteries.
We have repaired broken stones, set new bases, dug up and leveled stones ect....... but
before you do all of that there needs to be some research done as to who owns the
property, and you need to get permission from the owner or trustee in charge. Then you
would want to "read the cemetery and check around for "old" plats or
readings of the cemetery. This will help with stone placement when you get to the actual
restoration. We have had descendants of the people burried in the cemeteries to make
monetary donations to help out with the expenses. And you will of course want to round up
as many volunteers as you can to help with the actual restoration process.
