Not sure if this will be helpful, but I have a similar name in my family connections --my
great-great grandmother's second husband was Peter Ruegemer; her daughter was Anna was
married to his son Peter P., as well.
This particular family settled in Illinois (Blue Island?) for a while--I think all the
children (all sons) except Peter P. were born there (all with his first wife). They then
moved to Minnesota around 1867-68, where they settled in Munson township (Richmond MN),
where Peter P. was born in 1868. Much of the extended family still live there and the
original homestead is still in their family.
Your spelling is very similar and it is not uncommon for misspellings due to various
transcribers (census takers, court clerks, etc. spelling names as they hear them). In any
case, this does not appear to be a very common name. Not sure if there are any
connections though. When did these Ruegamer's arrive in the U.S. and from where?
I hope this is helpful to you!
