Surnames: Thomas, Barrett, Harmison, Boussum, Deel, Mooney, Turner,
Waldsmith, Sterling, Timmons
The Thomas, Barrett, and Harmison families seemed to have been quite
close as all were in Miami County, Ohio during the early 1800s, then
migrated into Indiana. Members of the Thomas family married into the
Barretts and Harmisons.
John Harmison married Esther Barrett in Miami Co, OH in 1828. Esther
Barrett was the daughter of Abner Barrett and Mary Pemberton, both
families were of Quaker background. By the mid-1830s John and Esther
were living in Laporte, IN. In 1850 the family appeared on the census in
White Co, IN. John died there in 1857. He was reportedly, a minister.
Following his death, various members of the family moved into Carroll
County. Some of the children married into the TURNER, MOONEY, BOUSSUM,
and DEEL families - connected with Carroll County.
The Boussum family connects to my line and allied familes include:
TIMMONS, WALDSMITH, STERLING, and TIMMONS.
As for the Thomas family, I have data on several Thomas spouses who
married into the family. I'd be happy to explore any ties between the
families with you if you care to email me as most of the data doesn't
involve Carroll County.
I would also be interested in exchanging information with anyone on the
list researching the other surnames mentioned.
