Obit for Elza O. Lucas
Rev. Elza Lucas, 82, R., 5 Columbus,(IN) passed away at the home of his son Herman Lucas
Tuesday, June 29. He had been ill for the past two years.
Mr. Lucas was born in Brown County, Indiana, July 14, 1882, the son of Lowery and Julia
Ann (Moore) Lucas. He was married to the former Ethel Hensley in August, 1899 in Johnson
Township, Brown County. Mrs. Lucas preceded him death in 1957. They were parents of eight
sons and five daughters. Three sons and one daughter also preceded him in death.
Mr. Lucas as a retired farmer and Pentecostal minister. He was a member of the Pentecostal
Church. Before going to live with his son, seven years ago, he made his home in Brown
County.
Funeral services will be held Friday in the Duncan Church with Earl Anderson and Charles
Kerns conducting the rites. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.
Surviving are four sons; Herman and Paul, R. 5, Columbus, Albert of Nashville and James of
Columbus. Four sisters,* Mrs. Martha Sturgeon, R. 1, Nashville; Mrs. Julia DeWar, Camby,
Indiana; Mrs. Myrtle Ault, R. 2, Nashville and Mrs. Verlis Graham R. 3, Columbus.
Also surviving are on brother Harley Lucas, Bloomington; two sisters, Mrs. Josie
Kleindorfer, California, Mrs. Bertha Terrill, Bloomington; fifty-six grandchildren; one
hundred-twenty-one great-grandchildren and nineteen great-great-grandchildren.

*error these are his daughters. Also list 8 sons but believe error as I only find 7. Other
3 sons, Wilbur,d. 1965, Lester & Otis.
