GOLDEN WEDDING
Of Dr. Ward and Wife Celebrated Sunday at Their Home Near Unionville
An unusually pleasant occasion was that Sunday when Dr. and Mrs. J. G. Ward,
near Unionville, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary surrounded by
the immediate relatives and friends numbering some 35. In the midst of
health and happiness, a bounteous dinner was served and then followed music
by Misses Hannah Ward and Sarepta Shaffer and George Timberlake. The doctor
is aged 68 and his good wife is two years younger, and a half century ago
they were married in the same neighborhood. For 30 years he was the leading
doctor in Brown County and then moved to the present home. The doctor is a
Republican of the old school and has long been an influential resident of
that section of Monroe and Brown. The many friends hope for them many
additional years of happiness together.
Those who participated in the interesting event were: Mr. and Mrs. Walter
Peterson of Bedford; Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Peterson and Acy Peterson of
Effingham, Ill.; Miss Nora Peterson of Indianapolis; Mr. and Mrs. John Helms
of Helmsburg; from Monroe County were Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Spencer, George
Timberlake and wife and son, Thomas Gallyon (sic) and wife, John Peterson
and sons, Walter Peterson and wife, Thomas Ward and family, J. P. Shaffer
and family, and Miss Hannah Ward. Two of the sons, Harry and Rufus, live in
California and could not be present.
