There are 13 Federal Land Grants given to members of the Walker family.
Including the earliest land grant to Charles Walker, Jr in 1829.
While there are many Walker's buried in Sprunica Church Cemetery, there was
also a very early family cemetery located on this section.
SW1/4 of NE 1/4 of S23-T10N-R3E
Charles Walker, Jr had an 80 acre Land Grant where this cemetery was known
to be located. "about 650ft. west of Upper Salt Creek Road on a hillside
on the old Elmer Parlsey farm (1973), is an old cemetery with a few crude
fieldstones without inscriptions. They are said to mark the graves of the
members of the Walker family who bought land from the USA in this section
in 1829." (Brown County Cemetery Index, page 44, Brown County Historical
Society, 1977)
There is also a marriage record for Landy B. Walker and Miss Rachel Young
on October 24, 1839; by John Terhune, J.P.
