Message Board Post:
I looked at the Brown County Historical Society archives yesterday, and found very little
concerning Washington Moser, except that he was married to Delila Followell and as there
was a civil action regarding the division of her property, we can surmise that she never
remarried. There are no death records about either. I have a "Moser/Mosier Family
Study" on my to-do list, but the Mosers I am familiar with are Washington's
apparent siblings Calvin and Isaac.
As for Hiram Reynolds, he was apparently married three times, according to early marriage
records. There is no information on deaths or divorces with regards to the first two,
while there is a divorce complaint, essentially filed and granted the same day for the
third wife, after 1 year and 3 months of marriage. There is only one reference to a child
born to the first wife in the 1850 census, no other children are apparent. Not sure how
he fits in with Reynolds Familys that may still be in this area.
Hiram Reynolds is listed in the Criminal/Civil/Probate Records, for several offenses
including "Gaining money by ill-gotten means", gambling, & assault. There
are also two documents in the OLD Circuit Court files.
Dated Sept Term 1845
State of Indiana
vs. Hiram Reynolds
On a charge of Assault with intent to Murder.
I ave copies of the two documents which are essentially a summons of the Grand Jury in
this case. There are no documents that show how te outcome was rendered.
There is little indication except what is available on Ancestry about the 82nd Indiana,
neither are there any Probates regarding these two men. I thought if they had died in te
Civil War and had owned land, teir would have been a disposition of the estate, but I
could find no such records.
