Julia,
Thank you so very much for you kind offer to help, but after I wrote
that email I was digging around in papers that I had and found a land
description on some of the papers I have from when John Sr. had died. Also a cousin I
talked with who lived in Columbus said she would locate a map she had and we
could possibly find out where it was. So looks like we are heading in the
right direction.
Again.........thanks so very much for you offer. I do have another
question about Brown Co. though. My Gr Grandparents John Wesley Anderson Jr
and his wife Charity Miller both died young.......1893 and 94 respectfully, and
since they were married 1884, they missed any census, so I have no record
of them of any kind. I am so very curious about their deaths and what might
have happened to them. Do you know if there would have been any local papers
during that time period that might have had something in them about their
deaths? I do know that Charity remarried to a Ambrose Wheatly, but that is
about all I have on them......I believe that they most likely lived in Hamblen
Twp. as did their families before their marriage. His parents were buried in
the Anderson/Moriah Cemetery , but I don't know where they were even buried??
thanks once again...........N.J.Skinner White

The land records are in the county Recorder's Office. If my understanding
is correct, the BLM only has the original purchases from the government. If
an individual sold Mr. Anderson the land, that transaction would not be on
the BLM site.
I need to pay forward some genealogical kindness to repay assistance I've
received recently, so here's what I'll do. If you will give me some
additional information about Mr. Anderson, I'll go to the Recorder's Office
and see what I can find for you. I'll also look for a map that has range
and township and section markings on it. I purchased a good one several
years ago, but don't know what's available now.
About John Anderson:
- Was he married and what was his wife's name?
- During what date range do you think he was in Brown County?
- Do you have any clues about what part of the county he was in - township
name, post office, etc.?

Subject: [INBROWN] Land records for Br.Co.IN early 1900's and bef.
I'm looking for the right place to find out about land owned in Brown Co.
circa early 1900's?
I have the Circuit Court papers for Nov 1909 that says one John Anderson
deceased had land, but in looking at the BLM - ES, GLO website, I did not
find
where he had purchased land in Brown Co.IN. Where can I find out
where
the
land he owned was in Brown Co.?\
thanks so much,
