Carol,
I am a descendant of Benjamin Smith (b. 1818; d. 1864) who married Jane
Stitt (b. 1832 PA; d. 1898). Their joint headstone is in the
Wilkerson/Powell Cemetery in Brown County IN. I have more precise dates, but
the year will do for now.
It would be interesting to compare dates/notes with you and learn if your
Smiths are indirectly related to mine.
My Benjamin's father was John Smith of Westmoreland County PA. My Michael
Harvey Smith was born 1853 in Armstrong Co. PA. Armstrong County is where
Jane's father James Harvey Stitt died in 1852.

I don't have much information on the Smith family but my gg grandmother was
Christiann Smith from Brown Co. IN via Felicity OH. She was married to John
Joslin. John's grandson Charles married Margaret Powell. (Charles and
Margaret are my grandparents) Her father Moses is buried in the Powell
Cemetery in Bartholomew Co. In that cemetery there are some Stitts. I
can't remember how many or first names but I thought at the time they maybe
related to the Powells? If you have any information on the Smiths, Stitts,
Powells,,Joslins, or Palmers that you would be willing to share I would love
to hear from you. The executor of John Joslin's will was Joseph Smith.
Hoping for some information. Carol
