I am trying to trace my ggrandfather, William H. Calvert (who might also have been known
as Hanson Calvert). I first found him marrying Caroline Ramey in 1856 in Jackson Co. He
was there for the 1860 census, age 26, then in Brown Co. for 1870, back to Jackson Co. for
1880 and then died before 1900 census. He was born in VA; his father in PA; his mother in
VA.
The only male calvert on the 1850 census that meets the criteria I have was Hanson
Calvert, age 16, son of William and Rachel Calvert of Smith Twp. Belmont Co, OH. Hanson
Calvert had 3 sisters -- Nancy, Hester, and Rachel. I read on another board, someone
found that Nancy and Hester were "sent" to Brown Co. IN because of a cholera
epidemic in Belmont Co. and in 1852 married William Carmichael of Belmont Co. and Samuel
Coffman, respectively. I did find a Rachel Calvert marrying Green Edwards in 1858 in
Brown Co. but no marriage records for Nancy and Hester nor anything on any member of the
family on any census subsequent to the 1850 in Belmont Co.
Is there anyone in this posting who could shed any light on a group of young Calvert
siblings making this migration to Bown Co.?
