Obituary, The Brown County Democrat, August 11, 1938: "Mrs. Catherine J.
Morse, 93, former Brown County citizen, died at her home in Bloomington,
Sunday at 12:45 p.m.
Mrs. Morse had enjoyed good health until about ten days ago, since which
time her condition gradually grew worse. Complications of old age were
given as the cause of death.
Justice Morse, Civil War veteran and husband of Mrs. Morse, preceded her
in death 30 years ago. Prior to his death they lived Needmore. Mrs. Morse
was a member of the Needmore Methodist Church and a member of the Bloomington
Relief Corps.
The survivors are two daughters, Mrs. J.R. McDaniel and Mrs. L.D. McDaniel
of Bloomington; three sons, Roy and Vern Morse, both of Bloomington, and
Truman Morse of Portland, Oregon; one brother, Willard Siscoe, of Lorain,
Ohio; and two sisters, Mrs. Henry Wantland of Bloomington and Mrs. R.W.
Ives of Tickwilla (Tukwila?), Washington. There are also a number of nieces,
nephews and grandchildren.
Dr. C. Howard Taylor, pastor of the First Methodist Church had charge of
the funeral services which were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday from the First Christian
Church in Bloomington. Interment was in Needmore cemetery."
She was born 1-9-1845 in Brown Co and died 8-7-1938.
