The Reporter-Times
Martinsville, Indiana
Monday January 30, 2006
Erma Sue Able, 66, of Indianapolis, died Jan. 26, 2006, at 7:30 p.m. at her
residence. Born June 2, 1939 in Unionville, Ind., she was the daughter of James and Aline
(Nugent) Fishel, both deceased. She married Richard Dean Abel of Indianapolis. He
survives.
A member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Indianapolis, she worked at the
St. Simon School cafeteria in Indianapolis, and was also a homemaker. She enjoyed fishing,
birdwatching and the outdoors.
Besides her husband, survivors include two daughters, Sara Hudson of
Indianapolis, and Annette Whitten; two grandchildren, Melissa and Dominiaca Hudson; and a
sister, Helen Lindsey of Martinsville.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Virden and Jimmy Fishel.
Services for her will be held Tuesday, Jan. 31, at 11 a.m. at St. Martin of Tours
Catholic Church in Martinsville. The Rev. John Hall will officiate. Friends may call
Monday, Jan. 30, from 5-8 p.m. at Neal and Summers Mortuary in Martinsville.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church.
Burial will be at Pleasant View Cemetery in Monroe County.

Finding Amy Fishel Finchum after 1930 may prove difficult. I didn't find a second
marriage for her online, and if she did remarry it may be to current, most online marriage
records don't go beyond 1920 except for a few select counties.
As for Amy's mother, it is quite possible she passed sometime between 1920 and 1926.
If Helen Fishel, listed in the 1930 census, is her daughter then her death would have
occurred after Helen's approx. 1923 birth. A family tree posting states Helen Louise
Fishel married Clifford Newton Lindsey on Feb 27, 1940 in Indiana. Clifford was born in
1915 in Rensselaer, Jasper Co., IN and Helen was born July 30, 1922 in Newberry, IN.
