Alberta: I haven't done any geneology for the past several years but I am still
trying to link Eliza Carter, who married James H. Knight in Bartholomew Co., Indiana, to
Usual Carter, Jr. In the 1840 Bartholomew County census, it lists his children and Eliza
would fit in with the ages that are listed. In about 1846, James H. and wife, Eliza sold
their farm in Nineveh Township to Usual C arter and they moved to Clark County , Illinois.
They stayed there about 10 years and then moved to Monroe County, Indiana where they made
their home until they died, except for a few years when they moved over into neighboring
Brown County. Of course, you know that Usual Carter died here in Edinburg, Indiana, where
I live, while staying with his daughter Chalista Williams, wife of William Williams.
Of course, there were many Carters in Bartholomew County and maybe she doesn't belong
to Usuals' family but I have always believed that she did.. What do you think?
Alberta, I will soon be 81 years old, in January 05. I am very active still and walk
2miles out around our local fishing site. I enjoy the outdoors very much and am praying
that I never get confined to the inside. I don't like to even think about that!
Any help that you can give? Don Knight of Edinburg, Indiana. 607 N. Clay St., P O Box 36
