Bev, Have you run across in your research the following Coles family in Brown Co. Indiana?
Solomon's brother, Edmund Coles, married Nancy King, who was reportedly the daughter
of John King and Nancy Fox, thus her name was Nancy King Coles. Are you a descendant of
the Coles family? If so, we have a website of hundreds of photos and 105 mb of
information on the ancestors. The James Coles you mention, I wonder if he is the same son
of Solomon and Mahala Coles who lived in Brown Co., Indiana in 1860 with his parents? I
find here a notation that Solomon Coles drowned near Savannah, Georgia in the civil war.
I am wondering now who Mahala Coles married. I note there is a Samuel Jay, guardian, so
will have to look into this a little closer. I am studying this descendant line.
1. SOLOMON6 COLES (THOMAS5, SOLOMON4, SOLOMON3, DANIEL2, UNKNOWN1) was born September 26,
1831 in Ohio, and died January 04, 1865 in Savannah, Georgia1. He married MAHALA. She was
born Abt. 1825 in Ohio.
