Hi Julia,
I am sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, I have been pretty busy. Thanks
a lot for the information. You are right, that Amanda Ellen Deckard is a
different one than the one I am looking for with David Hayes.
Thanks again!

Dawn,
It appears that Dr. Percy's book is accurate. I found the same information
in two different transcriptions of the Brown County Marriage Records.
Amanda Ellen married David Hays on 12 September 1871. This is in Book 3 of
the Brown County Marriage Records and appears on page 512. Matilda married
David Hays on 2 March 1876. This is in Book 4, page 131 of the Brown County
Marriage Records.
In "History and Families, Brown County, Indiana" I find that Matilda (Tilda)
was born in 1858 and Amanda Ellen (Manda) was born in 1855. Amanda died
June 23, 1932. So my guess is that you should be looking for a divorce for
Amanda and David.
There is also a marriage for an Amanda E. Deckard on 12 December 1886. She
married Perry Robertson. This is the daughter of John Henry and Rachel
Sexton Deckard. She was born in 1868, so she is NOT likely to be the Amanda
Ellen who married David Hays.
Note: This is not my family, so I don't have extensive information on them.
I've just looked them up in books that I have handy.
Julia

Hi Kris,
Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, I have been pretty busy the last few
days. I am looking for more information on Amanda Ellen Deckard and Matilda
Deckard. Both are daughters of Hezekiah Deckard and Barsheba Ann Pennington
of Brown County, Indiana, Amanda born in 1855 and Matilda born 1857. Both
sisters appear to have married a David Hayes five years apart in years 1871
and 1876. I am confused and wonder if it is the same David Hayes or if
there were two of them. Census records are confusing but I am led to
believe there were two David Hayes since I found two of them with different
fathers. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
