I am not sure where my Beatys lived in Brown Co. I should have looked it up on my two trips to Nashville! I know they are buried in the Unity Church Cemetery on Spearsville Rd.I can try to find out. I know the first of their 3 children was born in Ohio. The next two in Indiana. So it won't be too difficult to tell when they went out there. I imagine the father is mentioned in history books and it might give his address.
I don't have Microsoft Word on my computer.I would just have to let you know if I can figure out where they lived if I find out.
Thanks for your reply.

Nancy,
It would be interesting to compile a listing for all interested parties of our family names, members and when we think they made the transit from Belmont to Brown. That together with a Brown Co. map of destinations would be a wonderful aid. Does anyone have suggestions on how to do this? I could start one on a Word document and attach it to a posting. I just don't kow if it could be edited.

My great great grandfather William Ware Parker (dob 1812) was born in Belmont County, married Mary "Polly" Collins (dob 1813) also of Belmont County. They married 1834 in Athens County Ohio, but lived and raised their children in Belmont County Ohio. Sometime after 1853 William W. and Mary Parker migrated to Hamblin Twp, Brown County Indiana. They are buried in the Goshen Church Cemetary on Bean Blossom Road. I'd love to know where their homestead was located. I know that James Alexander Parker migrated to Brown County about 1878 or so in covered wagons taking 3 weeks for the trek. He and his family built a 2 story house near Bear Wallow Hill. My gr grandfather was Andrew Washington (or visa versa) Parker, who did not move to Brown County In with the rest of his brothers and sisters. He decided to stay in that area of Belmont County, Jefferson County and Moundsville/Wheeling WV.
I'm just wondering if William Ware Parker moved out there to be with his brothers? James, Henry, Reuben, Joseph, & John? These brothers were born approx 1801 to 1825 approximately, and most likely in Belmont County Ohio. I know that there is a John Parker born 1825 in Belmont County Ohio, married to Mary Moore (dob 11/22/1830), migrated to Van Buren Twp, Brown County In about 1849. Is anyone on here from that particular line of John and Mary Parker?

There is a Mobley in my Parker ancestry from William Ware Parker: Charles Rex Mobley and William Mobley.
There is also a Catherine Truex mentioned.
My PARKER ancestors migrated from Belmont County Ohio to Brown County Indiana, also, sometime after 1853. My gr great grandfather was William Ware Parker dob 2/29/1812 born in Belmont County Ohio married to Mary 'Polly' Collins (dob 12/5/1813 also in Belmont County Ohio. They were married 3/10/1834 in Athens County Ohio, which is strange, as Athens County is not near Belmont County Ohio. But, they lived in Belmont County, had their children, then moved 20 years later to Brown County Indiana. Well, all but my great grandfather moved west to Indiana - he decided to stay in that general area of Ohio and upper panhandle of West Virginia around the Wheeling/Moundsville WV areas.
They settled above Nashville Indiana near Bean Blossom Road, possibly around Bear Wallow Hill - I'd dearly love to know where William W. and Mary Parker lived. They are buried at the Goshen Church Cemetary on Bean Blossom Road. I'll be finding out sometime this week what denomination church that is and/or was when William W. and Mary Parker attended services and were buried there. That will help me to research further back.

Hi,
I'm not sure if they are related or just friends. In 1880, Etta Clark, age 6, will living with Ephraim. She was the daughter of my ancestor, Mary Ann Wright Barnes, from a previous marriage. Mary and Washington lived near the Carters. I'm not sure why Etta was living with them instead of with her mother. So, I'm not sure about the connection.
Any ideas?

The Brown County Genealogical Society in Nashville, IN has 265 Brown County Family histories available, which were compiled by Kenneth and Helen Reeve. These are priced very reasonably at $2.00 for the first and $1.00 for any additional plus handling. You can see which families are available on the Brown County Gen. Society website. They are also available for viewing in the Nashville, IN Library.

They were married in Belmont Co in nov 1851 and had one son Wm while in Ohio .He later became a physician and founded a clinic in Indiana. Their other children were Ermina Beaty Haugh and George W. Beaty. Susan died in 1857 when her children were toddlers. John remarried a Belmont Co woman who was a widow with a little girl. They had a couple more children. If anyone is descended from the Beatys or Haughs I would be interested in hearing from you. These Beatys are buried in the Unity Church Cemetery on Spearsville Rd near Beanblossom. I have been there to visit their graves and photograph the tombstones.
It would be interesting to create a map of Brown Co and put a red dot where the Belmont County people lived.

My Belmont family are the Barnes. William and Elizabeth Barnes moved to Brown County, IN in the middle 1850s. I saw another post about this migration, regarding the name Ephraim Carter. I think this family is related to the Barnes.
Anyway, I'd love to hear more on this subject. I hope those in the know, posts to this list so we can all share in the information.

Tim,
This is a revisit on your information on the land record of W.H. Calvert I found my William Calvert's Federal land patent for some 66 acres in Brown Co. The description was: Aliquot Parts - E1/2SW: Sec - 7: Township - 7-N: Range - 4-E: Fract Sect - Yes: Meridian - 2nd PM. It was issued January 15, 1851. You were so gracious in supplying the info in 2005. Do you know how I could get a copy of the actual record? This has become a major conundrum for me.
Oh, I did find out William and wife Rachel died of cholera on that land in 1854 and are buried in Houston cemetery, Salt Lick Twp, Jackson Co. I read a post somewhere that someone found the sealed well was still there in 1980.
Thanks so much for whatever you can do.
