The 1850 Boone, IN census shows the Jacob Parr who was born in TN in 1820 is living next
to his father, Jacob Parr who was born in PA about 1788. This same Jacob Parr seems to
appear in the 1860, 1870 and 1880 Boone census. The 1880 census again confirms that
Jacob's father was born in PA. Further proof: The 1880 Hamilton, Washington, IN census
shows David Parr's father as being born in PA. David being Jacob's brother. So
from every indication - Jacob was the son of Jacob, not Matthias.
I have eight Matthias Parrs in my family tree. The one that was born 17 Sep 1757 in
Roxbury, Morris, NJ was the father on eight children, with the first three born in Roxbury
and the next five in Wilkes CO, NC. I don't see how he could have been Jacob's
father in PA.
The Matthias that was born in Anderson, TN in 1818 was the son of Abner Parr, the son of
the above Matthias. The 1818 Matthias never married.
The Matthias born 1796 in Morgan, Wilkes, NC was my second great grandfather - no Jacob
connection.
The Matthias born 1725 in Southold, Suffolk, NY was my fourth great grandfather - no PA
connection.
'The Parr Families' Pioneer Settlers in the Vicinity of Big Springs, Boone CO, IN,
is very well written and full of great information. The author speculates that the
Matthias Parr in the 1790 NJ census might be the father of Jacob, Henry, Matthew, David
and John, but I think it was Jacob Parr of PA, instead.
I don't know much about the Parr family of PA -- maybe there is information available
from other Parr researchers reading this message.
What do you think?
