The Bowman family married into my LONEY family; thus, I only have scant information on the
Bowmans. But I would like to point out that Benjamin Bowman married Sarah Loney on 13 Apr
1815 in Ross Co., OH and Daniel Bowman married "Susan" Loney on 25 Jul 1816 in
Pike Co., OH
I have Benjamin as s/o John Bowman and Sarah Dawson but no proof that Daniel was s/o John
and Sarah.
Benjamin born circa 1797 - d circa 1832 in Ross Co., OH
Sarah Loney died 1846 in Tippecanoe Co., IN and thought to be d/o John Loney and Susannah
Bullock.
The only data I have on John Bowman Sr is born circa 1744 in Germany and died circa 1832
probably in Ross Co., OH. Sarah Dawson though to have also died n Ross Co., OH
Children: Daniel, Eli, Margaret, Mary, Thomas, and Benjamin.
Not sure if this will help but wanted to share:
Compendium of History, Remininiscence & Biography of Nebraska, 1912
"One of the earliest and best-known of Staunton county pioneers was Doctor William L.
Bowman, who was for over forty years a resident of this section. Dr. W. L. Bowman was
born in Ross county, Ohio on September 11, 1825. His father, Benjamin Bowman, was born in
Pennsylvania about 1787 and died in 1832; he was a farmer and moved into the Scioto Valley
in the days when that country was on the frontier. The mother, who was Sarah Loney in her
girlhood days in North Caroline, moved with her family to Tippecanoe county, Indiana, a
few years after her husband's death and it was here that Doctor Bowman grew to
manhood."
The reference to Scioto Valley would be for Ohio counties of Pike and Ross.
Good luck. I have worked with Bowman descendants who have not had much luck on John
Bowman, Sr.
