Message Board Post:
Diane,
I just came across your post from 1998 re Mud Creek Cemetery in Boone Co. My
gg-grandparents Samuel W. and Elizabeth M. Wiley are buried there. When Mom and I visited
there about 3 years ago we could not find a marker for Samuel (died 1887) and we THINK the
tall marker toward the front of the cemetery MIGHT be Elizabeth's. We could barely
make out the name Elizabeth but no last name. Anyway, I am trying to determine if their
son is buried there too. When we visited we talked to Mark Wiley who was the cemetery
caretaker and lived in the beautiful log house adjacent to the cemetery. I didn't know
about this son's death at that time. His name was Otis P. Wiley and he was born in
1871. While at Salt Lake a couple of weeks ago I found a Preston Wiley buried there. He
died in 1892. Preston is an often-used name in the Wiley family. Anyway, I don't know
who to ask about cemetery records and if this Preston Wiley could be my missing ancestor.
Do you have any suggestions for whom I c!
ould contact that might have access to those records?
Many thanks for any help you can give.
